The Seasoned Spoon warmly welcomes TACSU for an African & Caribbean Cooking Workshop! Join us on Mon, March 3rd, 2025 at 5:00 PM at The Seasoned Spoon Café for a fun and flavorful culinary experience. Learn how to prepare traditional dishes from Africa and the Caribbean with our talented chefs. This hands-on workshop will teach you new cooking techniques and introduce you to exciting flavors. Don't miss out on this opportunity to expand your cooking skills and taste buds!

On the menu:

African Pottage, is a yummy stew made traditionally with yams, vegetables and spice, also known as yam porridge or asaro.

Caribbean Festival, a delicious, fried sweet bread that is commonly eaten beside savoury dishes.

Zobo drink, a Nigerian drink made from hibiscus leaves, pineapples and spices. It's a refreshing, tart drink that is popular around the world.

This workshop is open to all students, faculty and community members. Don't hesitate to reserve a spot, there's plenty of room!

Transforming Food Scraps into Natural Paints!

Join Sammy and Lauren to explore some of the vast colourful potential in some easy-to-come-by food scraps. We will process various food scraps and explore how to make ink/paints, preserve inks and play with fun ways to modify the colours using wood ash and vinegar.

Please bring along a notebook you could paint in (we will have some extra watercolour paper incase) and paintbrushes if you have them as well as a few small jars or sealed containers to take some ink home.

This workshop is $5 and registration is required here.

Join the collective decision-making and annual review of the Seasoned Spoon co-operative café. Help elect board members, hear our updates, and contribute to the conversation! We will be gathering in the cafe for our AGM, followed by a meal.

Attendance is free, but registration is required here and only available for cooperative members. If you prefer to attend online, a zoom link will be sent out in advance.
